Xavier University of Louisiana – (8-3) Tristan Rodriguez hit two home runs in the opening series’ game against Tougaloo College in a 17-10 win. Rodriguez belted a grand slam in the first inning, then a single shot in the third. For the game he was 3-for-5 with two home runs and 5 runs batted in. The Gold Rush went on to sweep the three-game series.
Bluefield State College – (7-4) The Big Blue swept the No. 4 ranked Virginia State Trojans in its scheduled weekend series. Late inning heroics sparked the Big Blue baseball team to a doubleheader sweep on Saturday, winning 3-2 in game one and 15-2 in the night cap.
Edward Waters College – (6-18) Won the first game of the three-game series 10-8 against Toccoa Falls and then split a doubleheader dropping the opener 6-5 before rallying with a 18-6 win in game 2 and earn its second series win this season.
Harris-Stowe State University – (4-6) The Hornets took on Waldorf (Iowa) University this weekend. Harris-Stowe, which was swept in yesterday’s doubleheader, split the doubleheader Saturday as they won the first game by a final score of 10-2 and lost the second game by a final score of 12-8.
Florida Memorial University – (10-8) Split a Saturday doubleheader with Bryant & Stratton-Albany winning the first game 9-8 and dropping the second game 9-7 in eight innings. Including the first game win in the series Friday by the score of 6-2, the Lions secured the weekend series victory.
Lane College – (5-6) The Dragons knocked off the HBCU No. 1 ranked Kentucky State Thorobreds winning the weekend series over KSU taking three of four games. On Saturday, Lane won both games of the doubleheader by the scores of 18-3 and 5-3. Then on Sunday, Lane took game one of a doubleheader by a score of 6-5, securing a series victory for the Dragons before a 10-6 set back in the series finale.
