Grambling State University shortstop Cameron Bufford and first baseman Keylon Mack were named the Black College Nines Preseason Second Team on Friday.
Bufford, an All-Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Second Team selection last season, was second on the team in batting, with a .314 average. He tallied 58 hits, including a team-high 12 home runs, seven doubles and a pair of triples, while slugging .568. In addition, he had 12 multi-hit games, including going 3-for-4, with three runs scored, one homer and one double, while driving in three against Memphis.
Mack batted .268 in 50 plate appearances for the Tigers last season. He finished with 26 hits, including six doubles and five homers, and drove in 12. In addition, he had five multi-hit games and went 2-for-4, with two runs scored, one homer and drove in a pair against rival Southern.
Grambling State opens the season on Friday, Feb. 18 at the Andre Dawson Classic against Jackson State. The Tigers will also meet New Orleans and Arkansas-Pine Bluff to wrap up play in the Andre Dawson Classic.
