Grambling State University Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Trayvean Scott announced a three-year contract extension for head baseball coach Davin Pierre.
Following a historic postseason run winning the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Baseball Tournament and reaching the NCAA Division I Regional last season, Pierre is heading into year four as the head coach enters his 15th season with the Grambling State Tiger Baseball program.
Coach Pierre has returned a national exposure and acclaim to the program. He is an outstanding leader, an individual who can recruit at the highest level, and he understands how to create the best possible environment for student-athletes to thrive at Grambling.
Under Pierre, the Tigers made three straight SWAC Tournament appearances and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2010.
Pierre is a Grambling alum, with a bachelor’s and master’s degree, where he also played baseball. He is an ordained minister and very active in ministry at his church.
Davin Pierre has helped guide the Tigers to one of the top offensive and defensive teams in the SWAC. He joined the Tigers baseball staff as an assistant in 2009. On November 10, 2021, Pierre was promoted to interim head coach following the resignation of former head coach James Cooper. He was promoted to head coach on October 21, 2022. In three seasons as the head coach, Pierre has won 81 games including a 58-24 record in SWAC play.
Pierre’s three-year extension is set to run through May 2028.
