Grambling State Tiger Keylon Mack Joins MLB Draft League

Playing for Grambling State, Mack from Gladewater, Texas finished his collegiate playing days will continue baseball career joined the MLB Draft League which plays from early July until September (50) games. Mack will play for the Frederick Keys based in Frederick, Maryland.

The infielder was a Black College Nines HBCU Baseball Elite second-team. Mack batted .350 in 54 games, 19 doubles, 16 home runs and 59 runs batted in. In addition, he had a .984 fielding percentage. Career stats at Grambling, .313 batting average in 130 games played and 119 games started, 33 doubles, 30 home runs and 106 runs batted to close out his collegiate baseball career.

The MLB Draft League is a six-team baseball league featuring a split-season amateur-professional format. The first half of the MLB Draft League season features Draft-eligible players aiming to improve their stock ahead of the annual MLB Draft in July. The League switches to a professional format in the second half, with paid players comprising the six rosters.

First Half (June 1-July 4, 2023): Amateur/Draft-eligible players from the Divisions I-III, NAIA, Junior College and High School (graduating seniors) levels. 30 games per team.

Second Half (July 7-Sept. 2, 2023): Professional players who have exhausted their amateur eligibility. Players receive housing, meal money, travel and weekly compensation. 50 games per team, with a Championship Game on Monday, Sept. 4.

Since its inception in 2021, the MLB Draft League has produced 86 MLB Draft picks and had nearly 50 undrafted free agents sign with a Major League organization. This includes two from HBCUs.
