On a recent warm, sunny day in Frankfort, Kentucky, Mayor Layne Wilkerson and the city celebrated the Kentucky State baseball team for winning the NCAA Division II bracket of the Tyson Foods Black College World Series last May in Montgomery, Alabama.
The Kentucky State baseball team was issued a proclamation from the City of Frankfort in praise and recognition of their winning efforts during the past college baseball season and proclaimed the month of August 2022 as Kentucky State University baseball month.
Kentucky State lost in the national championship game to Edward Waters University 3 to 2. But baseball under head coach Rob Henry is being rewritten.
The players were afforded an opportunity to chat with Mayor Wilkerson and fans, as well as pose for pictures. The team was honestly made to feel special.
This was truly an historic day because never before in the history of Thorobred baseball have they been able to celebrate a long-time dream.
