Four Baseball Programs Receive Votes in National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA DII South Region Poll

Albany State, Savannah State, Morehouse, and Edward Waters are receiving votes in the latest Collegiate Baseball’s National Collegiate Baseball Writers Associations (NCBWA) NCAA Division II South Region Poll released Wednesday. Morehouse has made multiple appearances this season in the poll, while this is the first for Edward Waters and Albany State. Savannah State received a preseason ranking from the NCBWA.

All four teams represent baseball programs from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).

Three of the four teams have key three-games series this weekend. Morehouse hosts Miles College in Atlanta, GA, Savannah State has Spring Hill College visiting Savannah, GA, and Albany State hosts Lane College in Albany, GA.

Edward Waters has Kentucky State in a three-games series this weekend in Jacksonville, FL, the rematch of last season’s Black College World Series finalists won by the Tigers. Kentucky State seeks revenge.

The games have national implication as Albany State, Savannah State, Kentucky State, Miles, and Edward Waters received preseason rankings in Black College Nines (BCN) Top 10 Poll. The first BCN ranking for the 2023 season comes out on March 7th.

Teams are playing to get ranked and selected for The Road to Montgomery, AL. Riverwalk Stadium site of the 2023 Black College World Series presented by Tyson Foods.
