Florida A&M University Headed To The Gainesville Regional To Begin NCAA Tournament Play

Florida A&M baseball will head to Gainesville, Florida this week in the NCAA Regional Tournament. The Rattler earned an automatic bid as the champions of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).

The 64-team field was unveiled Monday.

FAMU (29-28), clinched the SWAC tournament title and will open its first NCAA appearance since 2019 when they last played in the Atlanta Regional.

Florida A&M will take on the No. 2 National Seed Florida Gators in the Gainesville Regional when play begins on Friday June 2nd, 2023.

The Gainesville tournament field has four teams including Florida, Texas Tech, UCONN and Florida A&M.

The Gainesville Regional is FAMUs third NCAA tournament appearance under Coach Jamey Shouppe. In his ten seasons at FAMU, the Rattlers also played in the 2019 and 2015 tournament. Their last appearance in the NCAA Tournament before Shouppe arrived was in 1995.
