Florida A&M Baseball Assistant Coach Bryan Henry has been named the Head Baseball Coach at Tallahassee Community College after eight seasons at Florida A&M.
“FAMU has meant the world to me for the past eight years, and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity,” said Coach Bryan Henry. “I can’t thank Jamey Shouppe and Mike Smith enough for seeing my potential and giving me a shot eight years ago. Coach Shouppe has been an amazing mentor and teacher of the game. The baseball knowledge he has passed on is second to none, and I can’t thank him enough for molding me into the coach I am now.
“Lastly, thank you to all the student-athletes, past, present, and incoming players, that have come and will come through the baseball program. I have enjoyed every relationship we’ve built and would not have had this opportunity without you. I’m excited about the new opportunity and will carry the Rattler pride with me every step of the way.”
“I am very excited for Bryan and this new opportunity at TCC!” said FAMU Baseball Head Coach Jamey Shouppe. “During the last eight seasons, Bryan has been a loyal friend to me and a tremendous employee for FAMU Baseball! Although he will be missed, I look forward to seeing his influence on TCC Baseball and the Tallahassee community! He will be an outstanding head coach!”
Coach Henry joined the Rattlers in 2015 and immediately impacted the pitching unit to post a team ERA of 4.73, which is the second-best for the Rattlers in the 21st century, and helped lead the Rattlers to their first MEAC Championship under Coach Shouppe. Coach Henry is also responsible for the lowest team ERA of 4.67 in the shortened 2020 season. Henry helped the Rattlers win their second MEAC Championship in 2019 as he coached the best closer in MEAC single-season history in Jeremiah McCullom as McCullom had 11 saves that season. Henry has coached three of the MEAC’s top-ten pitchers in single-season saves in Jeremiah McCullom (1st, 11 saves), Dylan Carson (8th, nine saves), and Chandler Benton (10th, eight saves). Henry coached the Rattlers to three under 4.0 ERA seasons in conference play. Henry has also coached 15 All-Conference honorees, the most recent being Hunter Viets (2nd Team All-SWAC).
