Fall Baseball Report: University of Arkansas Pine Bluff

Arkansas Pine Bluff had a fast and furious fall some would say.  A completely new coaching staff, 30 new players that were all recruited late in the summer due to the July hiring of head coach Logan Stout. According to Stout “In the words of our veteran players, this fall was completely different than how things used to be done, and we certainly hope that leads to unprecedented success.

We had two fall scrimmages vs outside competition, and UAPB did well. Though we didn’t keep score, UAPB took care of business against two quality opponents. Outfielder Gavin Terry anchored the lead-off spot and outfielder Eli Gries Smith settled in at the two-hole. Both were on base quite regularly. Jesus Riera was one of the leading hitters this fall and primarily played shortstop. He is a transfer from Alabama A&M. Outfielder Blake Coleman probably was the biggest surprise as he led the team in hitting. Michael Vinney Saumel, an Arkansas State transfer, stood out at catcher. He’s a switch hitter and was one of the leading hitters.

On the mound, Kenny Fabian, Ashton Davis, Nate Monceaux, Cole Kenyon, Brendan Hamlin, and Brandt Voth all stood out. Jaden Willis and Chris Bedgood had great falls as well and did a great job keeping hitters off balance.

Overall, we had a very optimistic fall and are excited for 2025!
