Fall Ball Kick-Starts Early Projected Road to Black College World Series

Fall workouts are already here for many HBCU schools across college baseball, and as usual, we’re keeping track of every fall exhibition game, practice, and scrimmage.

Fall ball officially began the 2024-2025 season with its first fall practice. Before the start of practice, the summer was a busy time for HBCU baseball coaching staffs.

There is a ton that goes into constructing a fall roster.

Each program receives student-athletes with different needs and priorities. Some want their best players to get longer looks and many other considerations, but you still must fill out a roster balanced between the nine positions on the field and ample depth behind them.

After all that movement, there are always plenty of reasons to get excited everywhere across the HBCU baseball landscape as fall rosters lead to the start of the 2025 season look brighter than others. Below is a ranking from fall baseball for early season predictions to make the field of eight that roll into Jackson, TN, Rockabillys Stadium.

The Black College World Series (BCWS) Baseball Tournament is May 7-10, 2025, and we are here to attempt to project where each team will land.

The championship series consists of eight teams with two brackets, NCAA Division II and NAIA as each will host a bracket championship to advance to the championship game and compete for a national title.

There are 38 HBCU small school baseball programs 10 are automatic qualifiers and at-large selections based on national rankings in Black College Nines Top 10 Poll.

The first time a selection committee seeded the BCWS top 10 teams occurred in 2021.

Below is a list of our early projected fields. As teams prepare for the 2025 season, we will fine-tune these projections when the season gets underway.

Please note early BCWS bracketology attempts to consider everything the selection committee could consider. This includes records, conference championships, strength of schedules, big wins, ranking, and more.

Our ultimate goal here is to identify the programs in the best shape right now to either make the BCWS field of eight with an eye toward May 2025 with the first four in, next four in, past champions rebuilding/reloading, or representing the potential to crack the eight team bracket field.
