The Edward Waters University baseball team revealed its national championship rings before Saturday’s scheduled 15-12 win over Lemoyne-Owens College.
The rings feature a large Tiger in the middle, BCWS at the top center, and champions at the bottom, surrounded by many diamonds. The logo is the centerpiece of a large national championship trophy. The sides of the rings are personalized for each member and list the player’s and coaches names.
The national champion rings are a tribute to the players every weekend mid-week games went out and won on the field with Tiger pride.
The rings were presented before the scheduled game in the HBCU Heritage Classic with LeMoyne-Owens played at the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp Minor League Baseball team, the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, in its Financial Ballpark on Saturday as part of Black History Month celebration.
The baseball game between Edward Waters and LeMoyne-Owen was part of the Black History Month parade and the Jax Melanin Market.
The national champions mark the Tiger’s second the first time since 2011 and the second time in program history, an HBCU National Championship. Edward Waters defeated Kentucky State, 3-2, in the Championship Game of the Tyson Foods Black College World Series at Riverwalk Stadium in 2022.
