Marcos Castillo, who helped Coppin State’s baseball team to a 2022 MEAC Championship and first-ever NCAA Regional appearance, has signed a professional contract with the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers of the United Shore Professional Baseball League. The USPBL is a four-team independent league which was founded in 2016 and all games are played at Jimmy John’s Field in Utica.
Castillo is scheduled to make his professional debut on Thursday, June 23 against the Eastside Diamond Hoppers at 7:05 pm. Most games will be streamed on the league’s YouTube page.
Castillo is the second different former Eagles player to sign with a USPBL franchise, joining Jahmon Taylor who played for the Eastside Diamond Hoppers in 2019. A total of 45 USPBL players have signed with Major League Baseball organizations.
