As part of the Atlanta Braves, Truist Bank, and Homers for Hank initiative this past July, Clark Atlanta University baseball program received a state-of-the-art batting cage for Panther Field.
Truist Bank, the Braves, and Homers for Hank program are giving back to baseball programs throughout the metro Atlanta area. The Homers for Hank program honors Hank Aaron’s commitment to education and supporting children in the greater Atlanta area. Donated funds will be used to build a program of impact – providing scholarships for students attending HBCUs in career development and future support initiatives in honor of Hank Aaron’s legacy.
The state of the art batting cage is the best in the SIAC Conference. It will help strengthen both the baseball and women’s softball programs.
The initiative accomplishes strategic objectives which extends vital physical education and athletic opportunities to more students. It enhances athletic and recreational programs that build character and success. It strengthens the student-athlete’s competitive edge by updating and expanding the facilities.
Clark Atlanta, as a student-athletic baseball program competing in the NCAA DII, is the perfect balance of athletics and academics. The initiative will help the program’s ability to thrive in both the classroom and on the ballpark’s playing field.
The competitive spirit of CAU student-athletes affirms the school’s enduring commitment to the central role of sports and recreation in student life, and celebrates HBCU baseball’s rich sports heritage. In addition to featuring a fully-turfed field, the batting cage upgrad meets or exceeds current standards in the SIAC Conference as it honors its long baseball history.
