Bluefield State Head Baseball Coach Drew Bailey Heavy on Recruiting

Drew Bailey, who guided Bluefield State to the 2021 Black College World Series HBCU “small school” national championship a little more than 6 months ago, is hitting the recruiting trail to get top notch players.

Bailey has made an immediate impact on Bluefield State baseball, leading the Big Blues program to a national championship in just his first season. His staff and student-athletes continue to raise the bar of excellence both on and off the field, and the athletic department is thrilled about the program’s future and is looking forward to having Bailey and his family in Bluefield, West Virginia for a long time.

Coach Bailey was introduced as the head coach of the Big Blues program this past January 2021. He is setting the tone for another trip to the Black College World Series. Since winning the series, nearly every conversation we’ve have with Bailey, it’s about recruiting… and it doesn’t take long to notice it, either.

Bailey was considered one of the best recruiters in HBCU baseball when he was hired. He was brought to Bluefield to bring life to a program that previously hadn’t won much of anything.

Coach Bailey and his staff are out recruiting an arsenal of arms. As the program and facility gets better, it will start to build tradition.
