When it comes to the best pure HBCU Baseball recruiters in the game, Bethune Cookman head coach Jonathan Hernandez is right at the top of the list. He’s been able to land multiple top prospects since his hiring to lead the Wildcats baseball program. He continues to bring in top-level student athletes recruiting some of the nation’s top collegiate baseball players.
Hernandez has landed another nationally ranked recruiting class this year with the 21st ranked junior college signing class in the country according to the JBB, a national Junior College baseball website. This marks the fourth time a recruiting class has been ranked nationally under Hernandez’s tenure.
Coach Hernandez has developed a knack for bringing in high-level student talent. This has resulted in having a top recruiting class in nearly every year he has been at the Division I level since being hired in 2018.
Jonathan Hernandez does a terrific job of bringing in a class that identifies with the program’s core values, relying on his experience as well as the entire rolodex on the coaching staff. He developed relationships, emphasized staff and recruitment strengths, communicated the expectations, and more to ultimately get these young men to campus and complete a fantastic recruiting class.
Hernandez has a set a priority of getting JUCOs from within the state of Florida. Others are from as far away as California, while the coaching staff also peppered the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states for collegiate talent.
This group of student-athletes will make the B-CU roster competitive and continue to show the positive strides being made under Hernandez.
