The Benedict College baseball team continued its stolen base dominance, as the NCAA recently released the final Division II baseball stats and statistical champions.
The Tigers, despite playing just nine games, led NCAA in stolen bases per game, averaging 8.78 stolen bases per game. The Tigers stole 79 total bases out of 81 attempts. Benedict has led NCAA Division II in stolen bases for the ninth time in 11 years.
Bradon O’Connor led Division II in stolen bases per game for the second time in his career. O’Connor averaged 2.33 stolen bases per game, swiping 21 bases in his nine games, without being picked off. He led the nation in stolen bases per game in 2019, the last time the NCAA declared a statistical champion. He has 103 career stolen bases.
Benedict had the nation’s top three leaders in stolen bases per game. Ryan Chesney finished second with 1.56 stolen bases per game, while Myquerris McGrier was third with 1.11 stolen bases per game.
Also, Anthony Johnson led the nation in on-base percentage, getting on base 60 percent of his at-bats. He had eight hits, 10 walks and was hit by pitch three times in 21 official at-bats.
