The Albany State University baseball team used a home field advantage to take a 6-3 victory over the Tigers of Savannah State University this afternoon.
Both teams opened the contest battling for the lead with no runs being added. In the bottom of the fourth inning the Golden Rams with Lachlan Ross double to left field to bring TJ Thomas and Chase Karn across home plate. Will Barry then doubled to center field to score Ross giving the Golden Rams a 3-0 lead. The Tigers of Savannah State University answered in the top of fifth inning when Joseph Smith hit a home run bring two across home plate to tie the game three all.
In the top of the seventh inning Kevin Bryant collected a home run to give the Golden Rams a 4-3 lead. In the seventh inning, Palmer reached on a fielder’s choice with Gavin Sloan scoring to bring the score 5-3. The Golden Rams scored its final run of the contest on an error by the Tigers in the eighth inning.
The Golden Rams was led by Lachlan Ross was two- for- four at the plate recording two RBI’s. Albany State finished the contest with seven hits, one error and six LOBs.
Malik Barrington collected the win on the mound for ASU pitching the entire contest ony allowing three runs, six hits, three walks and 10 strikeouts in the 35 batters faced.
