Albany State Baseball Receives Votes in NCBWA Regional Poll

The Albany State University baseball team, according to the latest rankings released by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on Wednesday, is receiving votes in the NCBWA Division II South Region national rankings.

This weekend, against No. 6 University of Tampa, ASU used a two-run third inning to tie its game with the Spartans and then added a run in the 12th inning to secure the victory with a run crossing home plate for the walkoff win.

Senior Chasen Roulhac leads the way, batting at a .317 clip. Ray Travis Jr., is hitting .306 with four doubles, three home runs, 13 runs batted in and eight stolen bases while Gavin Sloan is second on the team with 12 runs drive In. On the mound, Malik Barrington is off to a good start as he is 3-2 with a 3.86 earned run average and 32 strikeouts in 30.1 innings of work.

The Golden Rams return to action this weekend, Friday, March 13, and Saturday, March 14, with a scheduled doubleheader to open up SIAC conference play hosting Spring Hill College.
