The 2023 Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Freshman All-American team, powered by Diamond Sports, was announced by the organization on Wednesday and features Alabama State catcher Jamal George.
George, a 5-foot-11 180-pound native of Trujillo, P.R. joins a select group who have been honored as a national award winner for their performance on the field this season. George adds his name to the list that features the top group of freshmen throughout the country.
George started 56 games this season for the Hornets in 2023, hit .284 with 12 doubles, 6 homers, 34 runs batted in and fielded at a .991 clip from his catcher’s position. He was also named Freshman of The Year in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and a second team All-SWAC selection.
