Alabama State pounded out 15 hits and used three pitchers to pull away from St. Bonaventure for an 11-1 victory in the opening game of the series at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex on Friday night.
Hunter May (Slidell, La.) went 4-for-4 on the night with a pair of runs scored and missed the cycle by a triple. He was one of four players with multiple hits – Corey King (Lithonia, Ga.) and Ian Matos (Toa Alta, PR) each with three, and Chris Lewis (Alabaster, Ala.) with two.
Breon Pooler (Huntsville, Ala.) picked up another win as he went 6.0 innings and allowed one run (unearned) on three hits with eight strikeouts. He gave way to Payton Harris (Hattiesburg, Miss.) who went 2.0 innings of scoreless relief and Ricardo Rivera (San Juan, PR) who pitched the final inning.
