Hunter May (Slidell, La.) and Corey King (Lithonia, Ga.) combined to drive in five runs on Sunday, leading Florida A&M to a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) sweep with a 7-1 victory at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex on Sunday.
King connected on his team-leading fifth home run of the season in the fifth inning to extend Alabama State’s lead, before May connected on his fourth home run to right center to put the game away for the Hornets. Angel Jimenez (Santo Domingo, DR), Cristopher DeGuzman (Fajardo, PR), and Christian Lopez (San Diego, Calif.) joined King with a pair of hits each in the win.
Austin King (Fulton, Miss.), one of four pitchers used in the game for the Hornets, picked up the win. King (3-1) went 5.0 innings and allowed just two hits with one strikeout, while Payton Harris (Hattiesburg, Miss.) went 2.0 innings in relief and allowed one run (unearned) off three hits. Shadai Colon (Rio Grande, PR) and Luis Rodriguez (Canovanas, PR) each worked one inning of scoreless relief.
