Breon Pooler (Huntsville, Ala.) and Luis Rodriguez (Canovanas, PR) combined to scatter six hits in a 2-1 non-conference victory over Grambling State on Friday afternoon.
Pooler (3-0) was magnificent in the start, going 6.2 innings and allowed just one run (earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts. The graduate right hander was never in trouble, giving up a solo home run in the second. Meanwhile, Rodriguez picked up his first save, working 2.1 innings and allowed just one hit while recording one strikeout.
Dilan Espinal (Canovanas, PR) picked up a pair of hits for the Hornets, finishing the day 2-for-4 at the plate.
