Earlier this week, Alabama A&M University head baseball coach Elliot Jones decided to leave the baseball program. Jones stated that it was time for him to move on.
With an urgent sense to keep the baseball program rolling, the university’s Director of Athletics, Dr. Paul A. Bryant, announced on Friday that Louis Whitlow will take over as interim head baseball coach. “I am excited to bring in a talented head coach in Louis Whitlow,” Bryant said. “He is a proud alum of this outstanding institution and I am excited for him to lead this program.”
Whitlow steps into the role effective November 1st with the departure of Jones, who had been at the helm of the program for the past four seasons.
Coach Whitlow takes over after serving as an assistant coach for the last two seasons. “I am honored and humbled to accept the position of interim head baseball coach at Alabama A&M University,” Whitlow said. “As an alumnus, this role carries a deep significance for me, and I am committed to upholding the tradition of excellence and integrity that A&M represents.”
Whitlow is a graduate of Alabama A&M with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and holds a dual Master’s Degree in Management and Human Resources from Florida Institute of Technology.
