Black College Nines covers the recap of week three of HBCU baseball, focusing on the 2025 season’s third weekend.

Miles College opened its Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play by sweeping a doubleheader against Benedict College on Saturday. The Golden Bears (5-3-1, 2-0) won the first game 9-8 and completed the sweep with a 6-3 victory in the second game.

Texas Southern baseball secured a dramatic win against Prairie View A&M, achieving a walk-off victory with a score of 3-2 on Saturday night at Daikin Park.

Morehouse University swept a three-game series against Kentucky State over the weekend to kick off their Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season. The Maroon Tigers (5-1, 3-0) dominated the first game with a score of 31-2, followed by back-to-back shutouts of 18-0 and 11-0 to complete the sweep.

The Grambling State University baseball team won two out of three games at the Cactus Jack HBCU Classic, also held at Daikin Park. The Tigers defeated Jackson State 8-7 on Friday and beat Southern University in a slugfest on Saturday, winning 20-10 in 8 innings, but were narrowly defeated by Alabama A&M 15-14 on Sunday.

Wiley University completed a three-game series sweep over Philander Smith in HBCU Athletic Conference action. The Wildcats (9-4) achieved their sixth consecutive victory, the longest winning streak of the season. Wiley won Saturday’s game 11-1, followed by a doubleheader win on Sunday with scores of 8-7 and 7-3.

Florida Memorial University’s baseball team won two out of three games in a series against Warner University. The Lions split a road doubleheader Friday, claiming a 5-3 victory in game one before losing game two 12-2. They bounced back with a strong pitching performance to secure the series win with a final score of 4-2 against Warner at Royals Field.

Alabama State baseball recorded its first win of the season, scoring nine runs to achieve a 9-2 victory in the nightcap of a doubleheader against Southern Indiana at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex on Saturday.

The Albany State Golden Rams dominated their opening Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series by sweeping Tuskegee University. Albany State won the first game 11-3, the second game 7-3, and a close third game with a score of 4-3, improving their record to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in SIAC play.

The North Carolina A&T State Aggies baseball team powered through a doubleheader sweep of the Delaware State Hornets with impressive offensive performance, hitting a combined total of two home runs, seven doubles, and five triples, winning the games 12-3 and 14-4 during opening day at War Memorial Stadium on Friday.

Savannah State University completed a three-game series sweep against Lane College over the weekend to launch their Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season. The Tigers (4-3) won Saturday’s game 11-0, Sunday’s doubleheader 16-5, and capped off the series with a 5-2 victory in the finale.

Raymond Jenkins Drives In 4 To Lead Morehouse Tigers Past Kentucky State University
Raymond Jenkins drove in four runs on three hits to lead Morehouse Tigers past Kentucky State University 11-0 on Sunday. Jenkins doubled in the first inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the sixth inning, scoring one.
The Morehouse Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jenkins doubled, scoring three runs, and Calvin Butts singled, scoring one run.
Cameron Solomon earned the win for Morehouse Tigers. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking three. Somer Cedeno took the loss for Kentucky State University. Julian Goodman tossed two innings of no-run ball for the Morehouse Tigers in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking none.
Morehouse Tigers tallied 11 hits in the game. Butts and Jenkins each collected three hits for Morehouse Tigers. Myles Gordon collected two hits for Morehouse Tigers in three at bats. Elijah Pinckney Puts On Strong Contact Performance As Morehouse Tigers Take The Win Over Kentucky State University
Elijah Pinckney collected three hits in three at bats, as Morehouse Tigers defeated Kentucky State University 18-0 on Saturday. Pinckney doubled in the second inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
Morehouse Tigers got on the board in the first inning after Ryan Campbell induced Vernon Clay to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Morehouse Tigers scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Pinckney doubled, scoring two runs, Robert Robinson singled, scoring two runs, James Thorpe singled, scoring one run, Raymond Jenkins singled, scoring one run, and Satchel Hamilton drew a walk, scoring one run.
Morehouse Tigers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Thorpe grounded into a fielder’s choice, Robinson scored after tagging up, Calvin Butts singled to left field, and Myles Gordon singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Noah Grayson earned the win for Morehouse Tigers. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking three. Campbell took the loss for Kentucky State University. Brian Uquart and Ian Makle each came on in relief for Morehouse Tigers and shutdown Kentucky State University.

Morehouse Tigers jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Pinckney hit a solo home run to left field, Raymond Jenkins drew a walk, scoring one run, Myles Gordon singled, scoring one run, and Calvin Butts hit a grand slam to left field.
Morehouse Tigers added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Morehouse Tigers scored on a wild pitch, and Vernon Clay walked, each scoring one run.
Nine more Morehouse Tigers runs crossed the plate in the third inning to extend the lead to 18-0. Victor Clay singled, scoring one run, Mariano McLean was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Brady Wooldridge induced Jenkins to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Butts drew a walk, scoring one run, Clay drew a walk, scoring one run, and Pinckney hit a grand slam to center field.
