2025 HBCU Baseball Season Week Seven Weekend Recap

No. 2 Albany State University won an SIAC series against No. 4 Edward Waters by taking two out of three games in Jacksonville, FL. The Golden Rams won the first game 15-4 on Friday, then split Saturday’s doubleheader, winning 13-12 but losing 13-6 in the series final game.

No. 9 Prairie View A&M upset No. 1 Jackson State Tigers, winning two out of three games to start the SWAC conference schedule. JSU won the series opener 12-0 on Friday. Prairie View A&M secured a 7-6 walk-off win in 11 innings on Saturday and clinched the series with a 9-5 win on Sunday.

The Savannah State baseball team won two out of three games against Benedict College at Tiger Field in Savannah, GA. The Tigers lost one of the scheduled doubleheaders on Saturday, 8-2, but bounced back to win the second game, 7-3, and clinched the series on Sunday with a 5-2 victory.

The No. 2 Bethune-Cookman Wildcats completed a three-game series against Alcorn State with a total of 46 runs over the weekend. The scores were 15-4, 16-6, and 15-5 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona, FL.

Southern University at New Orleans, winners of 12 of its last 15 games, won two out of three against Philander Smith. The Knights are 12-9 overall and 10-2 in conference play. They split Saturday’s doubleheader, winning 15-7 and then losing 10-8. Sunday’s 22-4 victory sealed the series win for SUNO.

No. 1 Talladega baseball team lost its first HBCUAC conference game of the season to Wiley University in a 16-6 defeat on Saturday. The Tornadoes are now 20-8 overall and 14-1 in the conference. They won two games against Wiley on Friday, 9-7 and 14-9, clinching the series 2-1.

Florida Memorial split their four-game series against St. Thomas University to start SUN Conference play. St. Thomas won the first two games, 14-11 and 7-0, on Friday. On Saturday, Florida Memorial bounced back with victories of 7-6 and 18-16 to even the series.

The No. 7 ranked Texas Southern baseball team dominated Mississippi Valley State, scoring a total of 45 runs to sweep a three-game series with scores of 13-0, 12-3, and 20-7, marking a successful start to SWAC play in Itta Bena, Mississippi.

The 6th-ranked Grambling State Tigers completed a series sweep over Alabama A&M over the weekend, with scores of 14-3, 12-8, and 11-5 in Huntsville, AL.
