2025 Baseball Season Preview: Texas Southern University

The Tigers baseball team picked up a few quality ball players via the transfer portal last summer. Calvin McClendon (LHP) UAPB, Kewan Braziel (LHP) Alcorn State, Bryce Hughes (SS) Nebraska, and Elijah Rodriguez (C) University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will be looked upon to bring valuable experience and production when they step on the field this season. McClendon and Braziel are projected to be weekend starters and bring a ton of SWAC experience to the Tiger’s pitching staff. Hughes is slated to be the starting shortstop, and Rodriguez is set to see lots of time behind the plate.

Impact freshmen Bubba Moya and Collin Dennis, two local products, have an opportunity to contribute to the Texas Southern Tigers baseball team in a major way. Moya, a two-player should serve as a quality left-handed bat as well as a go-to arm out of the Tigers bullpen. He showed growth and consistency this past fall both on the mound and at the plate.

Collin Dennis on the other hand, is the future, maybe even the near future of the Texas Southern pitching staff. The young lefty is primed to be used as a reliever as well as a starter. Dennis’ four-pitch mix allows him to be very effective against lefties and righties.

TSU players to look out for this season will see significant playing time. Daylon Carleton, Bryce Hughes, Evan Joubert, Jaden Jones, Josh Prieto, and Justin Mays.

Impact transfers Bryce Hughes is slated to be the starting shortstop, and Elijah Rodriguez is set to see lots of time behind the plate.
