2025 Baseball Season Preview: Florida Memorial University

Florida Memorial baseball is looking forward to the 2025 baseball season with a great group of veteran guys who continue to lead. Under new head coach Wil Ramos, the Lions added more pieces to the lineup that will make an impact. Veterans will continue to lead the defense. On the mound from last season will return along with some key new bullpen guys, hopeful that the pitching staff will show gains this spring after the work they have put in this fall.

On the offensive side, the coaching staff is very excited about what FMU hitters are capable of accomplishing. Hitters to look out for include Armando Ramirez-(RF) lefthanded bat capable of hitting for power and using his speed. Armando comes with a lot of college experience and will be an impact player.

Justin Martines-(1B) lefthanded bat arrived at FMU with a good college experience. A power hitter in the middle of the lineup.

Christian Carratala-(SS/3B) switch hitter. Top of the lineup with some speed. Very good all-around player. Transfer player.

Rey Prieto- (3B/1B) ) righthanded batter. Prieto hit .319 last year at FMU. He has shown much improvement at the plate. Expecting him to become an everyday player.

Ernie Farrel- (SS/DH) righthanded hitter was an everyday player with a .317 average. Last year played third base, and now he has been moved to second base.

Ray Rivera- (LF) lefthanded hitter. Last year hit .354 while leading the team. He will be in the middle of the lineup. Expect a big year from him.

Pheron Charlton (CF) righthanded bat. Pheron is a valuable player. His defense and speed are elite at this level.

William Hiciano – (RHP) Sr. Projected starter along with Jamal Johnson (RHP) Sr., and Daniel Ramos (LHP).

The Lions have a couple of freshmen who will need to step up to be competitive. Brandon Roman, a two-way player, a local talent from the Miami area, will make an immediate impact. His fastball can be surprising, and he possesses the ability to locate pitches effectively and strike out batters.

Impact transfer player in Christopher Marte – Catcher is a Coppin State transfer and Armando Rivera.
