2025 Baseball Season Preview: Alabama A&M University

The Alabama A&M University Bulldogs begin a new phase as Louis Whitlow was announced this past November to fill in as the head coach.

Whitlow is an alum of Alabama A&M and is excited to lead the program, taking over after serving as an assistant coach for the last two seasons.

The Bulldogs went 13-38 overall and 9-20 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) last year. Alabama A&M scored 312 runs last season and batted .259 through 51 games.

AAMU lost batting leader Tristan Curless, who transferred in the offseason but returns shortstop Dre Amaral and outfielder Brycen Hammonds. Amaral batted .249 in 50 games and was second on the team in doubles with eight, while Hammonds finished with a .316 batting average and led the team in hits, with 55.

Alabama A&M will play in the Cactus Jack HBCU Classic and MLB Andre Dawson Classic to begin the season. The Bulldogs visit UAB, Memphis, and Georgia State all within the first month of the season.
