The Selma University baseball team, coming off its’ fifth straight National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) playoff appearance announced the 2016 baseball schedule as the Bulldogs will see tough home and away games against top Division I, DII, DII and NAIA opponents. On top of the home schedule, Selma will host games against Tuskegee University, Claflin University, Concordia College, Rust College, Clark-Atlanta University and Voorhees College.

Selma will play a 51 game schedule including stiff non-conference away games against DI Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA and Eastern New Mexico State in Peachtree City, GA., in a tournament hosted by Clark Atlanta (February 14-15).

Selma also have scheduled 12 home and away three-game series verses four DII teams from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) and top rank NAIA opponent University of Mobile in Mobile, AL., plus cross town rivals Concordia College in The River City Classic Bloch Park-Selma, AL (April 29-30).

Under head coach Adrian Holloway going into his third season at the helm of Bulldog baseball with an overall record of 41-17. “We are winding down our fall practice. We’ve added some missing pieces to the puzzle and we are expecting a great season. We’ve boosted our strength of schedule and feel we have the talent to compete at a high level. We’re looking to make a run at the NCCAA national title”.

Returning all 9 starters from last year’s team that finished 6th nationally in Historically Black College and University (HBCU) and 4th in National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) respective polls, Selma got multiple first year flame throwers guys who know how to pitch combine that with the guys coming back from last year returning weekend pitching rotation.

25 new recruits, adding 10 pitchers to the staff will help prepare Selma for a run at the NCCAA national title as the Bulldogs expect to have another great year of baseball. That’s always a good thing. The depth is there may be better than last year. The best part about scheduling heavy competition, it will bring out the best in everybody.

Selma Bulldogs expect to have another great year of baseball.

The 2016 season will open February 10 against Tuskegee University for a two game series in Montgomery, AL.
