North Carolina A&T’s and Southern University’s baseball programs are among the teams receiving votes in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Associations (NCBWA) NCAA Division I Top 30 Poll. Both teams are making their second appearance this season.
The Aggies can make a huge impact and have a good chance to get in the poll next week if they can win back to back tough non conference mid-week games against South Carolina March 26, and nationally ranked opponent No. 6 North Carolina State March 27, then a home weekend three-game MEAC conference series hosting Savannah State March 29-31.
Southern University swept its SWAC Western Division rivals Grambling State this past weekend having to rally in all three games to post double digit scores in the sweep. The Jaguars, currently riding a three game winning streak, have a good chance to get in the poll next week if they can win two mid-week games March 26, at the University of New Orleans, return home March 27, facing Northwestern State and weekend SWAC conference series March 29-31 against Prairie View A&M.
Both NC A&T and Southern carry identical 14-9 overall records into the sixth week of the season and both are ranked in Black College Nines (BCN) HBCU Baseball Top 10 national poll (No. 1 and No. 2 respectively). The next HBCU Baseball Top 10 polling is scheduled to be released Tuesday, March 26, 2019, for Week 2.
