The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has named its postseason All-Region teams for the 2017 season and eight players from Historically Black College and Universities (HBCUs) were recognized in the NCAA Division II. The awards are given out annually to the student-athletes whose play on the field stands out amongst the many DII baseball programs across the country.
The HBCU players as selected by region are:
Atlantic Region:
First Team
Starting Pitcher: Seth Reeves, Jr., Winston-Salem (N.C.)
Second Team
Catcher: David Markins, Sr. Virginia State
Second Base: Ivan Acuna, Sr., Winston-Salem (N.C.)
Outfield: Randy Norris, So., Winston-Salem (N.C.)
Outfield: Jahleel Sewer, Sr. Virginia State
South Region:
Second Team
Shortstop: Armando Valentin, Jr., Benedict (S.C.) Outfield:
Outfield: Andrew McCoy, Jr., Benedict (S.C.)
Honorable Mention
Designated Hitter: Reeves Brashear, Jr., Miles (Ala.).
