Alabama A&M University Head Baseball Coach Leaving Program

Alabama A&M University head baseball coach Elliot Jones has decided to leave the Bulldogs baseball program. Jones released a statement saying he mutually agreed that it was time for him to move on.

Jones has been the head coach of the Alabama A&M baseball team for the last four years. Under his helm, the Bulldogs went 50-127.

Jones announced on social media that he was leaving the program.

“The past 4 years have been very rewarding. I’ve been working and building relationships with players, alumni, and the Huntsville community. I can truly say I’m leaving this place better than I found it.”

Jones also thanked the university for its support. “I appreciate the opportunity for growth that Alabama A&M University has provided me as man, and a baseball coach. I wish The Hill nothing but the best.”

In his statement, he also concluded with a “special thanks to President, Dr. Daniel K. Wims, AD, Paul A. Bryant, and AD, Bryan Hicks for allowing me to be a Division I head baseball coach at such a young age and I couldn’t thank them enough.”

“Though this is not the end of the book, it’s just a new chapter for my family & I, and it’s time for that chapter to begin.”

When the Alabama A&M athletic department addresses the separation, the question is who will be named as the interim or head coach. The current staff includes Pitching Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Mark Hernandez, Assistant Coach Ty Hill, and Director of Baseball Operations/ Player Development Louis Whitlow. Hill, a former Jackson State University graduate in 2022 and former player, joined the Alabama A&M coaching staff this past August 23, 2024.
