Who’s Hot In HBCU Baseball – Week Ten

Black College Nines continues its season long look at the players and pitchers and recognizes the great week of action they had on the field in HBCU baseball.

HBCU Large School Division

Florida A&M University – FAMU won a crucial series defeating MEAC conference rival Bethune Cookman.
Ocatvien MoyerPosition Player – Ocatvien Moyer (Freshmen SS) .500 batting average and a .700 slugging percentage in a series win defeating Bethune Cookman. For the week batted .385 with 5 hits and scored 3 runs.

 

 

GarrettPosition Player – Garrett Wilkinson (Junior OF) Heading into the bottom of the 5th inning trailing 8-1, Wilkinson had 5 runs batted in during his last two plate appearance to help FAMU in a come from behind win. He had a 2 run single, and a bases clearing 3 runs batted which completed the 10-9 comeback win.

 

HBCU Small School Division

Edward Waters College – Weekend three-game series with Trinity Baptist. Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the 7th, EWC fights back with 3 runs of their own to notch their 28th victory of the season in the 5-3 win. Game-two, two throwing errors from Trinity Baptist allowed EWC to score the only run of the game as EWC picked up their 29th victory.

EWCPitcher – Richard Edwards (Senior RHP) 9-2, 8.0 innings pitched, 3 earned runs, 8 hit, 4 strikeouts, 3 walks allowed.

 

 

 

 

Frederick BelzPitcher – Frederick Belz (Senior LHP) Pitched a gem in 1-0 game-two win , 6.0 innings pitched, allowed 3 hits, 1 walk with 6 strikeouts
