The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) has released it’s Preseason All-Region teams for the 2020 season. Six players from Historically Black College and Universities (HBCUs) were selected to the NCBWA South Region. The preseason awards are given out annually to the student-athletes whose play on the field is expected to stand out amongst the many DII baseball programs across the country.
The HBCU Baseball players as selected by the South Region are:
Albany State outfield Kevin Bryant .346 average at the plate produced ten home runs with 42 RBIs.
Kentucky State starting pitcher Brady Bibbs he was 8-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 64 innings pitched, surrendering 32 earned runs.
Miles catcher Jacob Bisharat .358 with 12 doubles, 3 triples, 6 home runs and 45 RBI. He’s also scored 51 runs and stole 12 bases.
Paine first base Anthony Ellis .363 batting average with 49 hits drove home 25 runs.
Benedict outfield Bradon O’Connor sported a .404 batting average, knocked in 30 runs and stole 47 bases.
Lane utility Keishaun Clark batted .422 with 6 doubles, 2 triples, belted two home runs with 24 runs driven home.
