In the two games, the Wildcats combined for 19 hits. Six players had multi-hit games led by Dominic Tezeno (SO/Orange, Texas) – who went 2-for-3 in Game 1 and 2-for-2 in Game 2 – giving him four hits in five at-bats. Luis Santiago (JR/Salinas, Puerto, Rico) drove in four of Wiley College’s 13 runs in the doubleheader. Six others recorded a RBI. Justice Brown (SR/Sugarland, Texas), Manuel Torres (SO/Winter Haven, Florida) and Darrell Victoria (SO/Beaumont, Texas) each scored two runs.

In their first starts of the season, Brandon Bilnoski (SR/Marshall, Texas) and Jon Michael Roberson (SO/Roma, Texas) combined to only allow two runs with one earned on three hits in six innings. The Wildcats’ bullpen didn’t give up a run or walk and struck out 11 batters in eight innings. Austin Rotramel (JR/Plano, Texas), who picked up the win in Game 2, struck out seven in three innings of work.

This weekend will be the University of St. Mary’s first four games of the season. It is coming off an 8-35 campaign in 2018. Sixteen players return including top hitter Daunte Freeman – who hit .331 last season. The Spires’ top returning pitcher is Matt Weis – who went 5-7 with a 4.48 ERA. University of St. Mary will begin its 18th season under Rob Miller.

After this weekend’s series, the Wildcats will continue their homestand with Southwestern Assemblies of God University with doubleheaders on February 8 and 9.
