Experienced player Talladega College (Ala.) senior Wilkin Louis has joined College of the Ozarks (Mo.) freshman Rhett Hill in being recognized as Association of Independent Institutions Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week as action begins to heat up on the diamond this spring.

Louis connected on one home run and drove in four runs as the Tornadoes won two of three games against No. 22-ranked Middle Georgia State University last weekend.

The Higuey, Dominican Republic, native batted .500, with five hits, in the three games.

Talladega is off to a 5-7 start this season, with three victories against nationally ranked opposition.

Meanwhile, Hill was dominant in his one start on the mound, notching a two-hit shutout in a 6-0 win against Mount Mercy University (Iowa) last Friday. The Fair Grove, Mo., native struck out seven batters and walked just two hitters. He needed just 86 pitches across seven innings to earn his first collegiate victory.

The right hander lowered his season earned run average to 1.46.

College of the Ozarks stands 4-4 on the season.
