TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Stillman College opened the 2019 baseball season Feb. 2 with a dominant 12-2 win in Game 1 over Morehouse College, but a big sixth inning proved costly in the second game, falling 11-5 to the Maroon Tigers.

Shawn Vowell took the hill in the first game and allowed only one run and four hits through four innings of work to record the win. Cole Lepchitz led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, including a pair of doubles, and drove in five runs. He finished the day with four total hits and six RBIs.

Lazaro Rodriguez and Darshon Broadwater added three and two RBI, respectively in Game 1.

Stillman jumped out to a 4-0 lead through two innings and led 6-1 through four. After Morehouse scored a run off relief pitcher Cameron Kilgore, Stillman answered with five runs in the bottom of the fifth and added one more in the sixth to enact the 10-run rule.  Broadwater finished the day with four RBI.

In Game 2, Stillman bounced back to take a 5-4 lead in the fifth, but Dillon McCaleb took the loss in the game after allowing three earned runs and five total off five hits in the sixth inning.
