St. Augustine’s Sports Information

 

RALEIGH, NC – Saint Augustine’s University’s Timothy Carter (Sr./Lumberton, NC) and Michael Keels (Sr./Manning, SC) were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division II Academic All-District Baseball Team. 

Eleven student-athletes, including Carter and Keels, made the District 2 squad which consists of players from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the Mountain East Conference and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). The student-athletes were honored for their academic and athletic achievements. 

Carter, a sport management major, has a 3.87 cumulative grade point average. He ranks fifth in the CIAA in home runs (8), fourth in triples (3) and fourth in slugging percentage (.628). The Falcons right fielder also ranks seventh in RBIs (39), seventh in on base percentage (.428) and ninth in batting average (.336). 

Keels, a sociology major, has a 3.80 grade point average. He ranks second in the CIAA in stolen bases (28) and is one of three conference players with a 1.000 fielding percentage. Nationally, the Falcons center fielder ranks 13th in stolen bases, 23rd in stolen bases per game and 14th in toughest to strike out in Division II. 

The all-district selections are automatically placed on the Academic All-America nomination ballot. The All-America team will be announced later in May. Go to cosida.com to see the entire list of Academic All-District teams.
