ATLANTA, Ga. – Paine College baseball swept the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Baseball Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week honors as announced Wednesday by the league office.

Gabriel Guzman, a junior outfielder from Miami, Fla. was named SIAC Player of the week as he led the Lions to a 2-1 weekend over Bluefield State College. He averaged .500 in three games which included four runs, two triples, and one RBI.

Hardvis Batista, a junior outfielder from West Hempstead, N.Y. pitched a gem in the Lions 9-0 victory over Bluefield State College. He finished this week with a 1-0 record as he pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing only five hits and striking out eight in the finale against Bluefield State on March 5. The Lions (5-9 overall) travel to Cary, N.C.  on Wednesday, March 8 to face CIAA foe, St. Augustine’s University in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.
