NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central University’s baseball program has seen a player be named MEAC Player of the Week for the third week in-a-row to start the season as Carter Williams (Brown Summit, N.C.) earned the honor, and Devin Sweet (Greensboro, N.C.) was named MEAC Pitcher of the Week the league announced on Monday, March 5.

Williams drove in a team-high 11 RBI over the past week and batted .409 with nine total hits.  He tripled twice including when he came a double-shy of a cycle against Iona.  He also drove in four RBI in the series opener against the Gaels and slugged .909 over five games.  Williams is now batting .320 to this point in the season with 15 RBI.

Sweet tossed 11 strikeouts over 7.2 innings against Iona, which is tied for the third-most in a single game in the modern era at NCCU.  He also became just the second pitcher to clear the 10+ strikeout mark twice in a career.  During the game, he retired 10 consecutive batters with six strikeouts mixed in during that run.  Sweet now has 27 strikeouts over four starts, which is good for 24th in the nation in NCAA Division-I.

The Eagles have now collected four weekly honors from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, with each of them going to a different player.  NCCU now has totaled three Player of the Week award winners and one Pitcher of the Week.
