Dwayne Marshall named MEAC Pitcher of the Week

Junior delivered complete game shutout against Longwood

NORFOLK, Virginia – University of Maryland Eastern Shore junior Dwayne Marshall (Piscataway, New Jersey) was honored by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) as its Pitcher of the Week on Monday (Feb. 18).

Marshall threw his first collegiate complete game shutout against Longwood. Over seven innings he gave up four hits and averaged one strikeout per inning. Those seven K’s also tied a college best.

Maryland Eastern Shore won the game over the Lancers, 3-0.

Dwayne continued his sophomore season pace, when he pitched to a 3.24 ERA against the MEAC. He also won the game against Delaware State that helped the Hawks reach the postseason.

This is the first Pitcher of the Week award Marshall has received, and the second overall. He was named Co-Player of the Week for his effort as a hitter/outfielder last March.

The Hawks will head to Richmond, Kentucky for a series with the Eastern Kentucky Colonels this weekend.
