Kentucky State Four RBI For Bryan Wilson

Senior Bryan Wilson tied a season-high with four RBI as the Kentucky State University baseball team snapped a six-game losing streak with an 8-6 non-conference victory over Asbury Tuesday at Alumni Park.

“It was good to get back on the winning track after five close losses in our last six games,” said Kentucky State University head coach Rob Henry. “We’ve been battling through some injuries and bad luck, which happens to every team over the course of the season. We had some young guys and some experienced players step up today, which should build some confidence heading into this weekend against Spring Hill.”

Wilson’s offense gave the Thorobreds the lead twice Tuesday, first with an RBI groundout in the bottom of the first and then, for good, with a two-out, ground rule double in the fifth. His two-out single in the seventh inning provided an insurance run. He finished 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI.

Kentucky State pushed across two more much needed runs in the eighth inning on singles by freshman Jace Wilson (Shepherdsville, KY) and senior Cam Starks (Alpharetta, GA).

The runs proved pivotal as the Eagles scored twice in the ninth and had the tying runs on base. However, senior Jordan Ransom (Ringgold, GA) finally slammed the door.

Starks had his 14th multi-hit game, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while senior Jay Poullard (Louisville, KY) was 2-for-3 with a run scored and RBI. Senior Russell Sims(Shelbyville, KY) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Kentucky State (17-12) hosts Spring Hill this weekend in a pivotal four-game series.
