Jarvis Christian Bulldogs Roll In Mid-Week Contest Against The Pilots Prior To Conference Series

Hawkins, Texas – Bulldogs baseball played host to LSU-Shreveport in a non-conference single 9-inning mid-week contest before their Red River Athletic Conference series this upcoming weekend in Shreveport. JCC came into the matchup with a record of 22-18, as LSUS entered the day with a record of 25-12.

Bulldogs 11, Pilots 3

JCC starter, Alejandro Guerrero (JR/San Leandro, CA) (4-2-1) | LSUS starter, Justin Donaldson (3-1)

On Tuesday, the Pilots would get on the board first to begin play taking a 1-0 lead after one inning of play. Alejandro Guerrero, the Bulldogs starter, would retire LSUS in the second, 1-2-3. CJ Tyler (FR/Van Alstyne, TX) (3-for-5) would lead off the 2nd with a triple and would score on a groundout to the right side by Santos Abreu (JR/Brooklyn, NY) (4-for-5). The Pilots would threaten in the top half of the 3rd but would not score.

With runners on 1st and 3rd in the 4th inning, Koby Greene (SR/Bullard, TX) (1-for-3) would lay down a sac bunt to score Carlos Andrade (SR/Pasadena, TX) (1-for-3), as JCC would take a 1-2 lead. LSUS would homer in the 5th, knotting the game back up at 2-2. The Bulldogs would begin to pull away in the bottom half scoring four runs on five hits and one LSUS error. JCC would add three more in 7th and two in the 8th to take a commanding 2-11 lead.

Tyler Arnsberg (JR/Merced, CA) and James Perez (JR/Fort Worth, TX) would secure the win for the Bulldogs in the 8th and 9th innings, allowing just one run to score, as the Bulldogs would take a 3-11 victory in the mid-week showdown. Guerrero (5-2-1) picked up the win tossing 7.0 innings, scattering five hits, allowing one unearned run, while striking out four.

The Bulldogs (23-18, RRAC 10-5) will travel to Shreveport, Louisiana, to take on the Pilots (25-13, RRAC 10-5) in a three-game RRAC series Friday-Saturday, April 7-8, 2017. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 7pm.
