Jackson State Tigers Bounce Back For An 8-4 Win Over Tougaloo

JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State baseball team improved its record to 18-8 with Wednesday’s victory over Tougaloo College. The Tigers defeated the Bulldogs 8-4 after a fifth inning comeback.

Jesse Anderson, senior right hand pitcher, received his first win on the mound this season. The Ontario, Canada native pitched 3.1 innings for four hits against, no runs, no walks, and seven strikeouts. Anderson entered the game to relieve Francisco Cervantes after a start by Jordan Bolden.

Joshua Santiago also made an appearance on the mound for the Tigers. Santiago pitched 1.0 innings for one hit, one unearned run, and two strikeouts.

Lamar Briggs, junior utility player, had the best success at the plate. The recently named College Sports Madness Player of the Week went 2-for-3 for one run and two runners batted in. Sam Campbell recorded his first home run of the season to bring in three runners and to lead the Tigers in RBIs.

The Tigers will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Fort Myers, Fla. to face Florida Gulf Coast in a three game series. The first game is scheduled for Friday, March 24. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m.
