NEW ORLEANS – Pay back.

Jackson State avenged an early-season loss versus New Orleans and routed the Privateers 12-4 in the second game of home-and-home non-conference series.

JSU nursed a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth and the Tigers’ offense surged to keep JSU on top.

Marshal Luiz and Chandler Dillard reached on walks to put runners in scoring position.

Raul Hernandez delivered an RBI single to left field and Jaylyn Williams followed with a three-run home run to left field.

The Tigers also scored four runs in the ninth inning to shut the door on UNO.

Mario Lopez entered in relief and was credited with the win. The Miami native tossed 2.0 innings and allowed one hit. Kevin Perez also threw 4.2 innings and allowed a hit, one run and one walk and fanned four batters.

Hernandez finished 4-for-5 with three RBI and scored a pair of runs. Williams also went 2-for-3 with three RBI and walked three times.

Wesley Reyes batted 3-for-5 with an RBI and scored a run.

JSU returns to action Saturday vs. Rust College at Braddy Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
