ST. LOUIS, MO – This afternoon the American Midwest Conference announced the AMC Baseball Player of the Week awards for the week ending on February 17th. For his efforts on the diamond, Jake Benolken (JR) has been recognized as this weeks AMC Baseball Player of the Week.

Benolken, a junior first baseman out of Belton, Texas, helped lead the Hornets to a four game series sweep over the Mid-America Christian University Evangels. Benolken went 6-for-9 on the week with three of his six hits being homeruns. In addition, he added four runs scored, five RBI’s, and two walks on the week. This is his first career AMC Baseball Player of the Week award.

The Hornets baseball team will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to take on NCAA Division I opponent Southeast Missouri State University in a nonconference matchup. The game was originally scheduled for 3 p.m. but has been moved to a 12 p.m. start due to forecasted rain.
