O’FALLON, MO – The Hornet’s opened up their series with Park University tonight with a 7-3 win.

Eddie McDaniels (JR/Lebanon, TN) went 3-5 with 2 RBI while Tony Montano (SR/San Jose, CA), Cole Danielson(JR/Palm Springs, CA), Leobardo Saldivar Jr. (SR/San Jose, CA), and PJ Roberts (SR/Watts, CA) all drove in one run each.

Alec Hutt (JR/Las Vegas, NV) went 7.0 innings with 5 strikeouts while Steven Kemp (SR/O’Fallon, Mo) finished out the game going 2.0 innings and striking out 3 of the 8 batters he faced.

Harris-Stowe kicked things off in the bottom of the first when Danielson singled to shallow right-center field and brought McDaniels home to take an early 1-0 lead.

Park answered in the top of the second with two runs. Abdiel Rivera singled to left field and brought Sam Derks and Connor Whitney home to take a 2-1 lead.

Their lead would not last long as HSSU flexed their bats in the bottom half of the inning.

After Corbett, Claus, and Mosley all reached base, PJ Roberts came to the plate and hit a sac-fly to bring Corbett and Claus across the plate. Tony Montano then singled down the right field line to bring Kyel Alexander(FR/Chicago, IL) (running for Mosley) home to take a 4-2 lead.

Park would add one more run in the top of the third on a passed ball to cut the deficit to one run.

The Hornets would not allow the Pirates to score another run the rest of the game. HSSU, however, added runs in the 4th, 6th, and 7th innings to secure their 7-3 win.

With the win, Harris-Stowe moves to 10-6 overall and 3-1 in AMC play. They will play a doubleheader tomorrow at Stars Park to finish out the series. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
