Four Tuskegee Baseball Players Earn Spots On 2019 SIAC Preseason Team

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its 2019 Baseball Preseason Team as voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors and four Golden Tigers landed spots on the roster ahead of the upcoming season

Tuskegee debuts in this year’s preseason poll with four selections. Last season, the Golden Tigers’ catcher Elgin Woodside led the team in slugging percentage (.490), RBIs (35), and home runs (6). He is joined by teammate, Nytorious Cooler, who played in 13 games which was second most among Tuskegee’s pitchers. Cooler had the second-best win-loss percentage (.375) during his sophomore campaign.

Dominc Johnson, a 2017 postseason all conference selection also made the preseason team. He played in 45 games and started in 44 as a sophomore. Scored 29 runs with 29 hits….posted 10 RBI and two home runs in 2018…Posted a season best 3 for 4 performance against Lane along three RBI. Tayari Albright rounded out the all-conference honors for the Golden Tigers. In 2018, he started in 33 of the team’s 34 games…notched 22 hits in 105 At Bats and scored 15 runs. The rising sophomore also notcced 11 RBI and six doubles.

The Golden Tigers open the 2019 Wednesday, Feb. 6 when they host the University of Montevallo. First pitch from Pasterson Field in Montgomery is set for 12 p.m.
