ATLANTA, GA – The Kentucky State University baseball team earned a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference-high four preseason selections in a vote of the league’s head coaches and sports information directors, the conference announced today (Wednesday, January 30).

“We’re excited about building on our success we had late last season,” said Kentucky State University head coach Rob Henry. “Cam, Jordan, Bryan and Boo are all deserving of recognition for their performance last season and in anticipation of what this year holds in store for them. It speaks to the strength of our conference to know that we have a couple of other players who were nominated and beat out by other players from other schools. This year shapes up to be a fun season with a great deal of talented players and programs deserving of postseason honors and a championship.”

Senior outfielder Cameron Starks (Alpharetta, GA) is the lone Thorobred to earn first team SIAC honors. He finished fifth in the conference a season ago with a .378 batting average with 12 doubles, three triples and four homeruns. His 13 stolen bases were third on the team.

Senior catcher Bryan Wilson (Chattanooga, TN), senior outfielder Jordan Ransom (Ringgold, GA) and sophomore first basemen Adren Thompson (Lexington, KY) earned second team laurels.

Ransom hit .291 last season with a team-best eight homeruns, nine doubles and three triples, while Wilson hit .287 with eight doubles and one homerun. Thompson had a batting average of .289 with three doubles and six homeruns.

Kentucky State starts the 2019 season February 9 with a doubleheader at Voorhees College.
