NORFOLK, Va. – Former Norfolk State University baseball player Ryan Kilmon has signed a professional contract with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, a well-known independent club based in Waldorf, Md., that plays in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

Kilmon, who is listed as an outfielder by the Blue Crabs, made his professional debut on Sunday. He went 1-for-3 with an RBI double in a win over the York Revolution in his pro debut.

Kilmon played one season for NSU in 2015 as a graduate transfer from James Madison. Kilmon earned second-team All-MEAC honors as a first baseman that season, batting .325 with nine doubles, three triples, two home runs and 26 RBI. Following his collegiate career, Kilmon earned an invitation to play in the California Winter League this past winter, batting .333 for the Palm Desert Coyotes.

Former Spartan Eric Crozier was the last Spartan to play for the Blue Crabs, seeing time in 119 games for Southern Maryland in 2010. Crozier is also the last Spartan to play in a Major League game, with Toronto in 2004.
